SIGNAL BOOST. GUYS, PLEASE REBLOG AND SPREAD THE WORLD.
I’ve recently posted some photos and a basic guide to what’s happening in Ukraine. Basically, our government seemed to choke on their air because the whole country was stirking this week.
On Wednesday, students went out on the streets to join a march, carrying national flags, singing national anthem and a popular patriotic song “Вставай, мила моя, вставай” (which roughly translates as “Wake up, my darling, wake up”) by Okean Elzy. Only some universities officially allowed students to participate in march and meet other strikers on Maidan. So, in general, young people gathered despite the threats of “taking measures of those who weren’t on lessons”.
Weather is becoming more harsh this days, so citizens supported those striking on Maidan with hot tea, coffee, food and warm clothes. About 80% of strikers spent a night in tents.
Everyday, EuroMaidan grew bigger and bigger. As the prohibition to attend the strike during lessons was quite serious, students gathered after the end of working day. People brought guitars, sang songs, took photos and met new friends. There were even couples getting married on Maidan.
Until Friday’s night everything was more or less peaceful. And here comes the main purpose of writing the post.
About 4 A.M. police started to disperse peaceful demonstration. They circled strikers and went on an attack. They beat innocent, unarmed people with truncheons. Everyone who fell was beaten with legs. Both boys and girls were dragged unconscious pulled by hair to police vans. Here is photo evidence:
And a video:
Those who were lucky to escape now hide in St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery’s yard. Anyone who walks out is immediately taken into police custody without any questions.
This morning, police stated the reason of beating happened. “People didn’t allow us to install a New Year tree and New Year decorations. They blocked our way”. Sure.
GUYS, IT’S VERY IMPORTANT. IF FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND MEETINGS IS TAKEN AWAY, THEN HOW IS THIS COUNTRY INDEPENDENT ANYMORE?
PLEASE, LET THE WORLD KNOW. REBLOG.
THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF UKRAINIANS.
It’s our life.
